Pete is looking for honest work. After his father's death he works hard to pay off the debts his father had left. He now wants to do his on work and make a life for himself. He falls in love with a wealthy man's daughter Rosalynn Richie in Ridgemoor. He has concealed his stutter by not talking much. He looks for work at a ranch where June's father hires Pete. June has given up on love and men. With Pete around she wonders if she can have a nice man in her life. She sees what a gentleman Pete is and starts to think she does have a chance.
I love historical romance and this book did not disappoint. I wanted to see Pete make a go for himself and find a nice woman to marry. June has issues. Sometimes you want to slap June though out the story but in the end everything works out as it should.
The setting was nice and the characters had good banter. I would look for another book by this author as it was such a sweet read.
